Contact information fields

Address, email, web address, and phone fields are considered special types of fields, and are created separately from other custom fields.  You can create as many of each kind of field as you need.

Address, email, web address, and phone fields that you create are available for any kind of member, whether individual or organization.  To create other kinds of custom fields, see Creating custom profile fields.

To add, change, reorder, or delete contact information fields, navigate to Members > Tools and Customization.  Then click the Customize the types of contact information link.  That will take you to a page like the following.

Adding a new contact information field

To add a new address block, phone number, or other contact field, click the appropriate tab (Addresses, Phone Numbers, etc.).  You'll then see a text box to the right allowing you to add a new field of that type.

Just type in the new type and click add.  This will add a new address block, phone number, etc. depending on what tab you selected before adding.

Note: When you add an address type, you are actually adding an entire set of address files, including street, city, state, etc.

Renaming or deleting an existing contact information field

To rename an existing field's name, click on the appropriate tab, then click the button.  That will bring up a page where you can edit the field's name.

Just change the field name as you would like, and click .  That will update the field name on the member detail and edit screens, as well as when choosing fields for reports and smart groups.

To delete the field, click the icon to the right of the field.  This will work only if none of your members have information in that field.  If any members have info in that field, you'll have a grayed-out delete icon , and you'll see  how many members have that information when you roll over the field, as demonstrated below.

Reordering contact information fields

Each type of contact information can have its fields displayed in any order.  To reorder, click on the appropriate tab, then click the reorder link at the bottom.

You will then be able to drag and drop the fields into any order as shown below.

When finished, click at the bottom.

Note: You can not reorder the contact field types themselves (addresses, phone numbers, etc.).  They will always display in a default order on the member profile pages.  You can, however, reorder the fields within each section.
