Members360° includes a robust data transfer feature. You can take your existing member data from whatever current system you are using, such as Access or iMis, and export it to specific XML format required by Members360°. Then you can import that information into Members360° using our Data Transfer process.
There are three steps involved in transferring your data:
Creating a properly formatted XML file of your data
Creating an import
Scheduling the import
Before you can perform an import, you must have a data file created. A data file is a text file with member data, history data, and/or relationship/linking data.
In order to get started creating your XML file, you can download the Members360° XML Schema file. This is available by navigating to Members > Tools and Customization and clicking the Import member data link. Then click the generate link as shown.
Once you download the file, save it to your computer and use the labels supplied by it to correctly label and format your XML file. See the documentation that comes with your XML program for assistance.
If you want an example, you can download a sample XML import file, which contains ten individuals, ten organizations, and relationships between them. This file assumes the existence of some specific fields and relationship types; you would need to refer to your downloaded schema file for correct XML field names for your Members360° site. You can also view the XML field name for any custom field from the Custom Fields area of Members360°; see Creating custom profile fields for more information.
To create a new import, you need to navigate to Members > Tools and Customization and clicking the Import member data link. This will take you to the following screen:
Click Add to create a new import. That will take you to the following screen:
Just type in a description for this import (such as Complete Import or Member Type Update) and using the button to browse for the XML file that Affiniscape helped you create. Click when finished.
Once you've created the import process, you need to schedule it so that it runs and transfers your data. To do so, click the Schedule link next to the appropriate import process in the list. This will schedule your import to be run as soon as possible.
