When you create or edit a participation group in Members360° (see Participation groups), you can choose to make it displayable on your Members24x7 site as well.
There are three parts to displaying a group on the web:
To set up display options for a participation group, just check off the Display this group on the public website option when creating the group or editing the group properties. This will bring up options as you see below.
Fill out the fields and content areas as described below.
Make this the default group displayed: If you check this off, then this group will show up by default on the Leadership page on your Members24x7 site. If you do not check this off, then someone viewing your Leadership page will need to click a link to view this group.
Header template: This is a content area that will display at the top of the list, above any members of the group. Notice that, by default, a placeholder for the Group Name is listed; this will be replaced by the actual name of the group on the website. You can add additional verbiage, edit or move the placeholder, or even remove the placeholder if you don't want the group name at the top. You probably won't enter other placeholders here, because they are more appropriate to the Member Template below.
Member template: This area allows you to format what appears for each member of the group. By default, several placeholders are created for various fields, such as the name, title, biography, and photo of the member. You can add static text that will display for each member if you wish, or you can move or edit the placeholders. If you delete a placeholder and need to add it back, use the Insert placeholder dropdown.
Footer template: This is a content area that will display at the bottom of the list, below the last member. Normally, this area is blank or contains static text, but you can add the group name field to it if you wish.
When you have set all these areas, you can save the group. Next, you must make sure to correctly add information to each member that will populate the page.
As you add members to the group (see Adding group members), you can add biography and picture information for each member. That way, the placeholders you added to the Member template earlier will be properly populated for each member of the group.
For the Email displayed and Phone displayed field, you can either choose the preferred field (whichever field each member has selected as preferred), or you can choose a specific field (such as Personal Email Address or Work Phone). You can also choose a Don't Display option if you want to hide that person's email or phone information.
For Web photo, you can either browse for a photo, or you can check off the option to use the photo stored in the member's profile (see Adding a new person).
For Bio, you can either type in a custom bio, or you can choose to use a profile field in the pulldown below if you have an appropriate field in the database.
Once you fill in these fields, you can save the member.
To link a group to your website, you simply need to click on the group from the Member Groups page, then click the Group Properties tab. As long as you have already set the group to display on the front end, then you'll see a link on the properties page as shown below. (This link also appears when you edit the group properties.)
You can click on the link if you want a preview of what the list will look like, and then you can highlight and copy the URL so that you can paste it into a content area on your Members24x7 site. (See your Members24x7 documentation if you need help creating a link.)
Notice that the group display will include your site's navigation, and the links will take the person back to the Members24x7 site domain, which is different than the domain for the Members360° group display. For example, in the screen shot above, the URL starts with m360.myassn.org, even though the site's regular URL is www.myassn.org. Our system makes the transition between the two URL's seamless for the user, so it will feel like the person has been on the same website the whole time.
