How are protests resolved?
Only a Team Captain can protest a decision. All protests must be stated prior to signing the scorecard sheet. Decisions of an Event Captain may be appealed to the Head Judge. If the team involed is from the Head Judge's company, the Head Judge will recuse himself and the decision will be that of the Rodeo Steering Committee Chair. All protests from the Qualifying Events must be resolved prior to the start of the Relay. Decisions of the Head Judge (or committee Chair, as noted above) are final.

When is the hard hat and eye protection penalty assessed?
The penalty is assessed when the hard hat or eye protection hits the ground. If the hard hat or eye protection falls off, but does not hit the ground, it is not a penalty.

The cutter assembly inside the tee tower is found at differing depths from the manufacturer. Will the tee be in the original bag from the manufacturer, or will it be open and the cutter positioned equally for each tee? Where will the cutter be positioned?
a. at the top of the tee tower
b. as delivered from the manufacturer
c. a given depth from the top of the tee tower (what is this depth?)
The tees will be in the original package as delivered from the manufacturer. I will forward this information on to the manufacturer to see if they can install the cutters at the same depth which should be at the top of the tee.

Can the wrench be left in the last tightened bolt in the tee to be ready for transfer into the cutter once the service is properly installed?
Yes

Does the tracer wire need to be installed before the tapping process begins since it isn't necessary for the intactness of the service? Or can we install the tracer wire as the tapping process is underway as long as we finish before the service valve is opened?
The event states, “once all components are installed above grade, the service tee is tapped”. The tracer wire must be installed and the last two activities are the tap and purge.

Will the tee be intact with the base installed and the bolts tightened down, or will the tee be unassembled and the parts only needing to be put together?
The tee will be intact with the base and the bolts tightened enough to hold the base to the tee. Probably just a couple of threads screwed in.

When is it OK to remove the cap?
The cap may be removed at any time, however, the hex wrench may not be installed in the cutter until all components are installed.

The bolts can be easily stripped! As long as each corner of the tee is tightened down flush, will there be any penalty for a stripped bolt?
No penalties for stripped bolts. The judges will be inspecting for the corners to touch.

What is the size of the mark required on the pipe for the stabfitting? What is a correct pipe mark for the rodeo?
Each team will be given a permanent marker to mark the pipe, in this case size is not important. The mark should end up approximately an 1/8“ from the moister seal. The judges will allow up to an 1/8“ plus or minus from the desired mark location. The coupling side of the mark must be positioned somewhere between 0“to 1/4“ from the moisture seal.

Will a penalty be charged if the socket is removed from the ratchet to speed the removal and installation of the bolts in the riser bracket as long as the socket is returned to the ratchet for the final tightening?
No

What does this mean...“Installing cutter wrench in tee before rise is complete”? Is the riser complete at the point the stab fittings are complete or when the fittings are complete and the riser is completely installed in the bracket with the bolts tightened?
The riser is completely installed in the bracket with the bolts tightened down and the tracer wire installed.

What does this mean...“Running cutter down before the service is completed”? When all the stab fittings are secure, is the service complete since it is intact? What makes the service complete?
All components must be completely installed before the wrench can be placed in the cutter and the cutter is run down.

Does everyone tape the pipe to keep it coiled up? Is that a standard?
The pipe and wire are taped at the start.

Meter Set: How far are you back from the meter set when you have to run to it?
You are 20'ft from the center of board.

Meter Set: Does the regulator have to face out or can it be to the side?
Regulator faces the side.

Meter Set: What is wrench tight? Is the meter cock on the nipple or do you have to install the meter cock?
You cannot take apart fittings by hand, normal hand movement not gripping the fitting and turning.

Pipe Cut: I noticed that the cutters are loosened and then tightened on to the pipe. Is there a setting on the travel?
The pipe cutters are closed all of the way and leaning on the pipe. The team must open them up to get them on the pipe. They may not touch the cutters until the whistle blows.

Hand Dig: Is it flush with the ground or is it raised a little.
Box is above ground about 2" to 3" and spoil filled around box.
